Since 2010 more than 170 African innovation hubs have been established. Critics claim that many of them are ineffective business incubators and non-competitive to Western digitalization models. Instead of discussing the pros and cons, this article focusses on two case studies of Kigalian hubs and their impact on the African digital economy.
