IN3 joins forces with open access journal Internet Policy Review

12 Dezember 2017

New partnership with the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) is expected to strengthen the interdisciplinary character of the open access journal Internet Policy Review.

Berlin, 12 December 2017Internet Policy Review, a leading European journal on internet regulation today celebrates its new partnership with the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3).

IN3, a research centre co-founded by Manuel Castells at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), is today officially joining forces with the journal’s publishing institution Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) in Berlin, Glasgow’s CREATe research consortium and research institute ISCC-CNRS from Paris.

As part of the new partnership, IN3 will get involved in the editorial work and management of the open access journal Internet Policy Review. “The Barcelona-based newcomer, along with its impressive research network, will among other things help our journal establish itself in the Iberian peninsula and benefit from IN3’s strong technical research expertise,” announced HIIG Director Jeanette Hofmann. “I am particularly happy to unveil this new cooperation in presence of Manuel Castells,” Hofmann added, just minutes before Castells gave a talk as part of the lecture series Making sense of the digital society.

The participation of IN3 to the mission of Internet Policy Review is expected to boost the number of quality submissions that the journal receives on a rolling basis. It will also strengthen the interdisciplinary character at the core of the publication. The journal is known for identifying emerging themes and publishing pioneering special issues on topics such as big data, the sharing economy, internet governance and political micro-targeting.
