Fabian Stephany ist seit 2019 Assoziierter Forscher am Alexander von Humboldt Institut für Internet und Gesellschaft im Bereich Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Gesellschaft.  Dr. Stephanys Forschung beschäftigt sich mit der Anwendung von Computational Social Science in Bereichen wie Bildung, Migration, Innovation oder öffentliche Verwaltung. Aktuell untersucht Fabian Stephany, in Kooperation mit dem Oxford Internet Institute, die geographische Ausbreitung von Wissen und Innovation auf Online-Plattformen.

Als Ökonom und selbstständiger Data Scientist hat Fabian Stephany bereits für verschiedene internationale Organisationen, wie den Wiener Think Tank Agenda Austria, das Entwicklungshilfeprogramm der Vereinten Nationen oder die OECD in Paris, gearbeitet. Er hat Wirtschaftswissenschaften und Sozialstatistik an unterschiedlichen Europäischen Universitäten studiert, wie der Universitá Bocconi in Mailand und der Universität von Cambridge.
