SUMMARY:Zur Essenz vorstoßen.
ups play an increasing role in facilitating knowledge transfer processes\,
including the transfer of scientific results into society\, businesses\,
and politics. At our September meetup\, we welcome two speakers who both f
ounded knowledge-driven startups. They will talk about their experience of
becoming founders as well as their perspective on knowledge transfer and
the impact of science:\n\n From dissertation to startup to thriving busin
ess – Dr. Robin Tech\, founder of AtomLeap\, a big data analytics start
up based in Berlin. He’s also a researcher at the Berlin Science Center
and MIT\, Cambridge\, and an alumni of HIIG.\n The challenges and pleasur
es of creating content businesses – Sebastian Klein\, founder of Blinki
st and partner at the think tank TheDive. He is a publisher of the magazin
 e Neue Narrative.\n\nFINDING THE ESSENCE\nBusinesses facilitating knowledg
 e transfer\nImpact of Science · September Meetup\nMonday\, 17 September 2
 018 | 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm | Doors open 6.30 pm\nHIIG | Französische Stra
ße 9 | 10117 Berlin\nRSVP\nThis meetup special is part of the 2018 Impac
t School which takes place at HIIG from 17–19 September.\nMeetup series
\nThis meetup is part of a regular series on the impact of science jointly
organised by Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (H
 IIG)\, Impact Distillery\, and Elephant in the Lab.\nThere is a pressing n
eed for informed expertise from virtually all fields of academic research.
Still\, scientific expertise often remains within its own domain and only
reaches relevant decision-makers in civil society indirectly and belatedl
 y. The prevalence of citation metrics to measure scholarly impact often co
mpels researchers to focus on article publications in disciplinary journal
 s. Prominent policy makers and research funders therefore increasingly pla
ce the question of societal impact at the top of their agenda.\nThe event
series aims to create a platform for experts and the interested community
around Open Science\, Knowledge Transfer and related topics. In short talk
s we invite experts to shed light on the exchange between politics\, busin
ess\, media and academia. Individual meetups explore disciplinary particul
arities and innovative formats of knowledge exchange.\n\nJoin the discussi
on and stay tuned by signing up to the meetup group!\nJOIN THE GROUP\n
