 e world. In response to this\, over the past years\, academic and research
  communities have developed ways of thinking critically about technology a
 nd data. But who benefits from these findings\, and this research? Beyond 
 the academy\, are there ways that we could increase the accessibility and 
 relevance of our research in the real world\, for real-world benefit?\n\nZ
 ara Rahman will talk about the importance of building bridges between civi
 l society and researchers thinking critically about technology and data\, 
 informed by her year's research as a fellow at the Data &amp\; Society Res
 earch Institute in New York City\, and her professional background working
  with non profits to help them use technology and data more effectively\, 
 responsibly and strategically\, most recently at international non-profit 
 organisation The Engine Room.\n\nThe lunch talk is open to the public\, pl
