Lunch talk mit Karsten Geier: International Cybersecurity Policy
Wednesday, 5 July 2017 · 1pm · HIIG Kitchen

Efforts in the United Nations to reach a common understanding on the rules applicable to State use of information and communication technologies have been ongoing for almost 20 years, notably through successive Groups of Governmental Experts. These efforts are complemented by regional and bilateral initiatives.

Karsten Geier will provide some background information and an overview on new developments, and he is happy to discuss with us possible new steps for ensuring cybersecurity through international cooperation at the UN level.

Karsten Geier is currently Head of the International Cyber Policy Coordination Staff at the Federal Foreign Office. He also serves as Chair of the United Nations Group of Governmental Experts (UN GGE) on Developments in the Field of Information and Telecommunications in the Context of International Security. His most recent overseas assignment took him to New York, where he helped to set up the European Union Delegation, and subsequently worked at Germany’s Mission to the United Nations.

The lunch talk is open to the public, please register via the form below.
