SUMMARY:Algorithmische Entscheidungen und deren menschenrechtliche Auswirku
 ngen
DESCRIPTION:Bitte beachten Sie\, dass es sich bei diesem Workshop nicht um
eine öffentliche Veranstaltung handelt\, die Teilnahme erfolgt auf Einlad
ung. Weitere Informationen zur Veranstaltung finden Sie unten in englische
r Sprache.\n\n\n\n\nWith the alluring possibility of technology freeing us
from the need to make decisions in all areas of our everyday lives\, a si
ncere concern is arising with regard to the preservation of free will in m
atters as crucial as the formation of public opinion\, political decision-
making and activity in online communication spaces.\nAlgorithms\, which al
so enter physical terrain via IoT\, directly influence human behaviour bot
h online and offline. The need for new meta-norms that can ensure an ethic
al process of technological innovation and acknowledge human rights when i
t comes to algorithmic decision-making is a pressing matter to be discusse
d.\nAlGORITHMIC DECISION MAKING AND ITS HUMAN RIGHTS IMPLICATIONS \nhoste
d by the Hans-Bredow-Institute for Media Research (HBI) and\nthe Alexander
von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG)\n12 to 13 October
2017 | Sirius Minds Berlin | Französische Str. 12.\nThese are the issues
our workshop on algorithmic decision making and human rights seeks to addr
ess. Benefiting from multiple points of view brought to our discussion pan
els by the Network’s guests and experts of the Network\, we will jointly
seek to explore and exchange views on the shifts\, tensions and new persp
ectives that innovations in the field of algorithmic decision-making bring
to the status and protection of human rights. By unpacking the participan
ts’ numerous research efforts\, we will be able to shed light on this br
oad theme\, uncover further common research interests and build upon diver
 se methodological backgrounds.\nAgenda\nThursday\, 12 October 2017\nWorksh
