New partnership promotes open access to research and fosters dialogue on digital innovation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berlin, Bochum, 17 December 2024<\/em>: The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) and the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) are joining forces to promote research on digitalisation. They will co-publish the renowned open-access journal Internet Policy Review <\/a>with the aim of making research findings freely available and shaping the dialogue on digital transformation in a practical and understandable way. Founded by HIIG in 2012, the journal publishes international research on digital policy and is widely regarded as a leading publication in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Open access and open science are essential for research that aims to achieve relevance and impact. They provide access to scientific knowledge not only for researchers but also for professionals in business, politics and society. Through initiatives such as the Internet Policy Review, this approach facilitates direct exchange and accelerates the translation of research findings into practical solutions, thus enriching societal debates,” explains Prof. Dr. Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Dubois, editor-in-chief of the journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Christiane Eilders, scientific director of CAIS, emphasises the importance of this collaboration: “This partnership is an important step in reflecting and shaping the digital transformation. With the Internet Policy Review, we promote interdisciplinary networking and highlight solution-oriented research \u2013 research that not only analyses but also develops innovative approaches to the pressing challenges of our time”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this collaboration, HIIG and CAIS are leveraging their complementary strengths. HIIG focuses on innovation, platform and data governance, entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, sustainability and open science. Meanwhile, CAIS concentrates on digital democratic innovation, educational technologies and trustworthy artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In 2012, the Internet Policy Review was one of the first journals to systematically explore the emerging and dynamic issues in internet research. Over the past decade, it has become an important platform for dialogue on digital transformation. As an open-access publication, it bridges science and society, enriching debates on the critical challenges of our time. By co-publishing the journal, we strengthen this dialogue and set our sights on the next big questions,” adds Prof. Dr. Jeanette Hofmann, Director of HIIG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Internet Policy Review is an open-access journal that publishes peer-reviewed research on internet regulation in Europe.
