Su Sonkan studied law at Marmara University in Istanbul (LL.B, 2007) and Westfälische Wilhelms University Münster (LL.M, 2010). During the LL.M Program she chose “Information-, Telecommunications- and Media law” as a Profilmodule. In February 2011 she completed her legal clerkship at the Istanbul Bar Association under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Cem Budak. Since February 2012, she is a research assistant and Ph.D. student at Yeditepe University Faculty of Law in Istanbul. After Ph.D. seminars and the proficiency exam for the thesis she started with her doctoral thesis on September 2014.
Starting March 2015 she was at HIIG for a research stay. She aims a research that -from the point of view Phenomenology- goes “back to the user”, a concept based on the Edmund Husserl’s “back to the things themselves” statement. The main direction of her doctoral thesis is the study of conceptual history and legal methodology thinking about the
terminology of user.
