Marcel Hebing, Dr.

Marcel works as a data scientist at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) where he develops the data portal DDI on Rails, which is used as the documentation system for the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) and other large-scale panel studies. In his PhD thesis, he discussed the possibilities for metadata-driven infrastructures for panel studies. Marcel beliefs in open data and open source, both as a sustainable business model and as the future of scientific collaboration. At the HIIG, Marcel is part of the Open Science team and works in the research project data sharing in academia.
