Call for Papers for the General Online Research Conference 2015. – Submit your abstract until 15 November 2014. HIIG is partner of the conference and is responsible for Track B which covers research in the area of Internet and Society.
Paper published in First Monday Journal on the Internet
Digital technologies carry the promise of transforming science and opening up the research process. In their paper "Putting open science into practice: A social dilemma?" HIIG researchers Kaja Scheliga & Sascha Friesike analyse the discrepancy between the concept of open science and scholarly reality. It was published in the First Monday Journal.
ICANN Accountability & Governance Public Experts
HIIG director Jeanette Hofmann was announced member of the ICANN Accountability & Governance Public Experts Group. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) coordinates key technical services critical to the continued operations of the Internet's underlying address book, the Domain Name System (DNS).

This year’s colloquium will be held on 9 October 2014 in Berlin and consists of two thematically focused tracks on 'Pay per pixel' and 'Private information – open debates'. Partnership: ‘Gründer-Garage’ kicks off in Berlin
The 'Gründer-Garage', which is a competition that aims to support people with entrepreneurial spirit, kicked off in berlin 16 July 2014. The Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society is a partner of the competition. The joint project intends to develop as many as possible creative business models, that achieve long-term market success.
‘How to start up in Berlin’ am 17. Juli
'How to start up in Berlin' is a satellite event of the third Tech Open Air. The event, which will be hold at the St. Oberholz Café jointly organised by IHK Berlin and Silicon Allee, is a good possibility to get to know our Startup Clinics team. Founders can set up appointments with our doctoral researchers for a clinic session.

To what extent do researchers make use of online-based tools?
As in the previous year the the Leibniz Research Network Alliance 2.0, which the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society is a partner of, is carrying out a survey among scientists in Germany. The key subjects are the forms of communication and working in science.
Open position: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) seeks applications from post-doctoral researchers for the position of a research fellow in Internet Policy and Governance. The candidate is expected to develop a research program focussing on governing infrastructures in digital societies.
