China is a major player in a changing global power dynamic that is strongly connected to AI-based military technologies. The effects of these technologies are not limited to their functionality, but include the meanings that are attributed to this technology in policy making, regulation or political communication. This chapter focuses on military- and security-related applications of AI in the Chinese context and offers an analysis of state media representations of military AI.
