A position offered by the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society in cooperation with the University of St. Gallen:

Business Model Innovation

A doctoral position in the field of Innovation & Entrepreneurship

The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) – in cooperation with the University of St. Gallen – is looking for a dedicated PhD candidate for the research area “Business Model Innovation” to start on December 1, 2013.

The HIIG research group “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” is working on a program to conduct systematic research and provide scientific support for Internet-based startups. This includes – among other things – special “Startup Clinics” to help the founding teams develop their business models by providing assistance for legal, financial and personnel-specific issues. In addition to working with the HIIG research group “Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, the candidate will also be involved with Prof. Dr. Gassmann’s research team “Business Model Innovation” at the University of St. Gallen.

Accordingly, a regular stay in St.Gallen (one week per month) is required. We seek to support especially innovative and transdisciplinary-oriented PhD research projects with this doctoral position (65% TVL-13, plus travel allowance).

The documents required include the completed online application form including:

  • Letter of motivation (max. 2 pages)
  • Exposé of the dissertation project and – if applicable – a short description of the current work stage (max. 3 pages)
  • Curriculum vitae, relevant certificates and one or two letters of recommendation
  • Your earliest possible entry date.

International applicants are particularly welcome. Fluency in English and a graduation of honors in a business-related course of university studies are mandatory. As the candidate will be included in the doctoral program of the University of St. Gallen, these criteria are basic prerequisites. We are still accepting your application. Please use the attached application form.
