Lena Marie Henkes
Lena Marie Henkes is a researcher in the research focus New Technologies and the Future of Law, working on the project Safe in data traffic: Everyday illustration of fundamental rights at risk (SiD). The project investigates how citizens can be provided with clear information about the risks associated with the use of their personal data by advertisers and equipped with effective means of intervention.
Prior to that, Lena Marie Henkes worked within the research focus Democratic Change and Knowledge and on the projects Organisational Resilience and Creativity: Exploring the Future of Educational Technology (ORC) and Capacities and Competencies in Dealing with Hate Speech and Hostility towards Science (KAPAZ). Previously, she led the BMFTR-funded research project Acquisition Logic as an Obstacle to Diamond Open Access (ELADOAH) and worked as deputy editor of the open access and peer-reviewed journal Internet Policy Review.
She holds a master’s degree in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin. Her master’s thesis focused on digital sovereignty in digital policy discourse in Germany. Beforehand she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies and Political Science at the University of Bremen.
