Judith Beyer
Judith Beyer was a science communication and knowledge transfer student assistant at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG). Her primary responsibility was managing the Digitaler Salon, as well as a wide range of behind-the-scenes tasks relating to the institute’s website.
She studied for a Master’s degree in Communication in Social and Economic Contexts at the Berlin University of the Arts. For her Master’s thesis, she examined how the generation Z, socialised in East Germany perceived East and West Germany. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies and Political and Social Sciences at the University of Erfurt prior to this. For her Bachelor’s thesis, she collaborated with six fellow students on a year-long research project examining the discourse on racism in leading German media outlets.
Her other academic interests include socio-political processes of change in the context of digitalisation and mediatisation, as well as fan studies. Before this, she worked for two and a half years as a working student at the charity ‘Freunde fürs Leben’, which raises awareness of mental health, depression and suicide across society.
