Joachim Wiewiura

Joachim Wiewiura is a postdoc and Vice-Director of the Centre for AI Ethics, Law, and Policy at Aalborg University’s Copenhagen Campus, Denmark. He holds a PhD from the University of Copenhagen, with research stays at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, at the then Digital Ethics Lab under the direction of Luciano Floridi, and also at the MIT Media Lab’s Center for Civic Media, directed by Ethan Zuckerman.

Joachim specializes in political philosophy and therefore the political thought and theory of the intersection between democracy and AI. Together with the Center for Philosophy of AI (University of Copenhagen), he leads the international Democracy & AI online series, which began in December 2025 and hosts talks with leading international scholars. His research has been published in journals such as Philosophy & Technology, Big Data & Society, New Media & Society and by the MIT Press.
