Georg von Richthofen, Dr.
Georg von Richthofen is a researcher in the Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Society research group at
the Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG). As Senior Researcher in the project
“Artificial Intelligence & Knowledge Work”, he explores the deployment of artificial
intelligence in the context of knowledge work. The research project is part of the focus group
on “Artificial Intelligence in the World of Work” of the German Federal Ministry for Labour
and Social Affairs. The aim of the project is to develop recommendations for the handling of
artificial intelligence in interdisciplinary collaboration with experts from politics, science and
Georg’s further research focuses on the sharing economy and is situated in consumer and
marketing research. He investigates questions related to the management of customer
experiences, the forms of customer value, the drivers of customer satisfaction, and the
navigation of institutional complexity in the sharing economy. In addition, Georg is interested
in the societal consequences of the sharing economy.
Georg received his doctorate from the Department of Management, Technology and
Economics, ETH Zurich. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting graduate student
scholar at Schulich School of Business, York University. Georg holds a Master in Economics
and Business from the Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University Rotterdam and a
Bachelor in Management and Technology from the Technical University of Munich.
