Franziska Oehmer, Dr.

Franziska Oehmer is a senior research assistant and lecturer at the Department of Communication Science and Media Research DCM at the University of Fribourg (CH). She obtained her doctorate at the University of Zurich (Chair of Politics and Communication, Prof. Dr. Otfried Jarren). She studied journalism and communication studies, political science and recent German literature at the Free University of Berlin (D) and at the Indiana University School of Journalism (USA). She deals with the medialization and digitalization of law. Franziska is about to complete her Bachelor of Law degree at the Fernuniversität Schweiz (subject of her thesis: Freedom of Opinion for Social Bots).

At the HIIG, she is a Fellow in Research Programme I: The Evolving Digital Society and researches Digital Justice. Possibilities and limits of digital technologies for legal work. Her stay is supported by the Scientific Exchange Programme of the Swiss National Science Foundation SNF.
