 ost) prominent anthropologist in the field of hacking culture and digital 
 activism. During the last years\, she became known as "the world's foremos
 t scholar on Anonymous". Her research intensively accompanied Anonymous th
 rough the developments of the last years\, gaining deep insights on "what 
 began as a network of trolls [and] has become a wellspring of online insur
 gency"\, as her new book Hacker\, Hoaxer\, Whistleblower\, Spy: The Many F
 aces of Anonymous states. It recently has been named to Kirkus Reviews’B
 est Books of 2014.\n\nHer first book on Free Software\, Coding Freedom: Th
 e Ethics and Aesthetics of Hacking has been published with Princeton Unive
 rsity Press. She has given numerous talks on hackers\, digital activism\, 
 open source production\, and intellectual property law.\n\nThe lecture was
  part of workshop Civil Disobedience beyond the State II: The Digitalizat
 ion of Civil Disobedience from Whistleblowing to Anonymous which is part o
 f workshop series addressing the transformation of civil disobedience.\n\n
