Amyn Vogel focuses in particular on questions of governance and ownership in organisations. His work examines Steward Ownership as a social innovation and explores how ownership and control structures affect economic performance as well as ecological and social sustainability. His research aims to translate academic insights into practice and policy, thereby contributing to evidence-based approaches to societal transformation.
Research
Amyn is a Senior Researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) in the research focus Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Society. He works on the project The Future of Ownership: Steward Ownership and its Implications for Economic Performance as well as Ecological and Social Sustainability. His research focuses on the role of organisations in societal transformation and on how companies and organisations can contribute to more sustainable and responsible development. He works at the intersection of academia and practice, with a particular interest in social innovation, impact entrepreneurship, impact measurement, and alternative ownership and governance models.
Academic Career
Amyn Vogel studied International Management (B.A. and M.A.) at the Berlin School of Economics and Law and ESCE Paris, as well as Futures Studies (M.A.) at the Freie Universität Berlin. He then completed his PhD in innovation research at Freie Universität Berlin in cooperation with Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Within the PRÄP-GO project, he explored the acceptance and implementation of innovations in healthcare and analyzed the individual, organizational, and institutional factors that influence the adoption of new care approaches. In his more recent work, he integrates perspectives from management, innovation, and sustainability research, with a particular focus on the societal impact of organizations and innovations.
From 2023 to 2026, Amyn Vogel was a Postdoctoral Researcher and Project Lead at the Professorship of Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Sustainability at LMU Munich. There, he worked on social innovation, impact measurement, and impact-oriented entrepreneurship. As part of the Impact Measurement and Valuation Lab (IMV-Lab), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, he investigated approaches to measuring and assessing societal impact and co-developed practical tools and publications with practice partners to advance impact management and measurement. He is also a member of the SPCE HUB (Sustainability Partnerships across Central Eurasia and Europe) and serves on the scientific advisory board of Future Maps.
