Research Stay at HIIG
The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) invites outstanding scholars from around the world to come to Berlin as a fellow or visiting researcher to engage in specialist exchange. We welcome applications from candidates in all areas of internet research whose transdisciplinary projects connect clearly with HIIG's research agenda.
We are happy to act as a host institution for scholars funded through programmes such as the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's Humboldt Research Fellowship, the German Chancellor Fellowship, the DFG's Walter Benjamin Programme, as well as DAAD and Fulbright scholarships. Please get in touch at application@hiig.de, ideally with a note on who you would like to work with at the institute, along with your application documents (CV and project outline/exposé).
At the start of their stay, visiting researchers and fellows discuss their research project with a project partner from our institute, who supports them through regular exchange, opportunities to present their work and potential joint publications. We integrate visiting researchers and fellows into the institute's activities throughout their stay and encourage them to get actively involved in our research. We are equally happy to support the launch of their own projects. Discussion sessions, workshops, excursions and other events all offer opportunities to connect with our research team, our academic directors and our guests at HIIG.
Are you a researcher interested in a structured fellowship programme lasting three to twelve months? Find out more here.
Do you have external funding and would like to complement your advanced doctoral studies or postdoctoral phase with a research stay with us? Find out more here.
Research and dialogue
Our aim in our research practice is to interweave scientific knowledge with social dialogue.
Discussion Dossiers
Societal debates on digital issues continuously raise new questions. Where these debates connect to HIIG’s research, we discuss them across the institute in various formats.
